According to Bloomberg, the aging line of laptops is indeed getting refreshed with a lot of interesting new features, including a thin touch screen strip on the keyboard that will replace the top row of function keys, but are unlikely to be revealed this fall. - The FCC has lost a court battle in which they were fighting to allow cities build their own broadband networks to increase competition among internet providers. A federal appellate court ruled that the FCC was overstepping its authority and can’t bypass state laws related to the construction of municipal networks. [The Verge]
- Snapchat’s being criticized for a new face filter that looks like an offensive Asian stereotype. They say it was “anime-inspired” and have already removed it. It’s not even the first time the company has been criticized for their racial tone-deafness. [Gizmodo]
- Microsoft is reportedly testing a new line of Surface-branded all-in-one PCs (like an iMac). Windows Central says they’re experimenting with a few different 4k display sizes, though the tests don’t guarantee that any product will actually be released. [Windows Central via The Verge]
