Just last week we saw a major update to Dolphin, the best GameCube emulator for running classic games on your PC, and now some intrepid soul has developed a version of Dolphin primed for virtual reality headsets.
- With Nintendo slow to embrace virtual reality—ahem, aside from the Virtual Boy twenty years ago—an resourceful coder has created a VR version of the Dolphin emulator. It won’t work perfectly, of course, given that none of the games are designed for VR, but it’s a fun experiment to dally around Metroid Prime in full 3D. [Reddit via Motherboard]
- In other news, the latest beta of Chrome has a new casting feature. You can now cast any tab to a compatible device (i.e. a Google Chromecast) without the need for a browser extension, and soon you’ll be able to cast your tabs directly to Hangouts. [The Next Web & Android Police]
- Plex for NVIDIA Shield is now available. It supports 4k video for those of you who love pixels above all. [Plex]
- This big news this morning was that Chris Evans is stepping down from Top Gear after just one season. The beleaguered host announced on Twitter that he is leaving the show following a tepid reception to his stewardship over the motoring series. Police also confirmed that they’re investigating Evans for a reported sexual assault in the 1990s. [Top Gear]
May the fourth be with you on this sunny July day.
