
The sunset has been delayed. Microsoft has decided to postpone the shutdown of the Sunrise calendar app as they continue to integrate its features within Outlook.
- The calendar has no clear timeline; Microsoft told PC World that they will “wait a little longer in order to deliver a few more Sunrise-inspired features in Outlook,” after which it will shut down for good. They had previously planned on shuttering the app on August 31st. [PC World]
- In other news, Facebook Messenger has a new feature that blends live video with instant messaging. You can start an “instant video” as you’re chatting with a friend, bringing a postage-stamp sized video chat to your written conversation. - Android developers can now apply to have their betas in the Play Store. Downloading betas used to be a bit of hassle that required you to join a Google Group or “sideload” the app outside of the Play Store, but Google is relaxing those restrictions to make things easier for developers and beta testers alike. - Twitter is encouraging popular users to publish more video by offering new monetization options. The Amplify Publisher Program lets creators run pre-roll ads for a cut of the revenue, similar to YouTube. [Twitter]
