Have you heard the good news? Live video has come to save the internet, and now Tumblr is getting in on the game. But they’re not reinventing the wheel; they’re partnering with existing video platforms to get live. And probably get weird.
- Yes, you can now share live videos on Tumblr. You can post live videos to through YouTube, YouKnow, Kanvas, and Upclose, and posts can be reblogged just like any other post on Tumblr. [Tumblr]
- In other news, Reddit’s native image hosting is now available to everyone (on SFW subreddits). That means you can skip Imgur and just post your bacon narwhal gems directly to the site; images can be up to 20MB and GIFs can be up to 100MB. [Reddit]
- PlayStation Vue, Sony’s online TV service, is now available on Roku, and they’re set to launch an Android app next week. [PlayStation Blog]
- Select Vine users can now post 140-second video “attachments” to their 6-second clips. The platform has been plagued by a creative brain drain as popular users—particularly those looking to monetize their popularity—migrate to other platforms. (If Vine is no longer limited to the GIF-like repeating clips, then isn’t it just another site where you can upload videos?) Twitter is also extending the length of videos up to 140 seconds, up from 30 seconds. [The Verge]
- Microsoft is updating their mobile wallet app to support NFC tap-to-pay features. That means Windows 10 Mobile phones like the Lumia line can finally partake in the tap-to-pay fanfare. The feature is currently rolling out to Windows Insiders testing the prerelease software, but should be available to all users later this summer. [Windows Experience Blog]
