Facebook announced plans to fight clickbait today. They’re updating the News Feed algorithm with a system that identifies phrases commonly used in misleading headlines.
- That’s all well and good, but assumes that your tastes in defining clickbait are in line with Facebook’s. They also refer to an imaginary site called “Gizmotechno” in their suggestions for publishers as an example of clickbait—possibly a reference to our sister site Gizmodo, who, of course, called Facebook out on their guise of impartiality. - Apple just issued a small iOS update to address a memory corruption issue that could potentially allow for arbitrary code to execute. - You can now purchase some classic Disney games for Super Nintendo thanks to GOG. The online game seller is offering Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Jungle Book with their original graphics and gameplay for $8.99 each. A little pricey for a nostalgia kick but Disney had some surprisingly solid SNES platformers back in the day. [GOG]
- You can now enlarge any emoji in Facebook Messenger. You could previously—apparently—send giant thumbs-up by holding down the like button, and now you can do that with any emoji if you want to send someone a jumbo :dancer::dancer::dancer:. [Facebook via The Next Web]
