The formula: Talk about a high point, then a low point, then a high point then a low point then a neutral point all within 10 minutes
You may have seen this in action at the movies. A dashing gentleman walks up to a solitary target. He asks if he can join her. Then after buying her a drink, he enthusiastically talks about his recent trip to Budapest where he had the time of his life- then transitions abruptly to the sudden death of his travel partner due to a senseless robbery. Then before she recovers from the emotional shock, he continues the story by mentioning he returns to the USA and finds a wonderful love note from his fiancee- then he loses his dog to an accident. Then he closes by saying to forget all that he went to this bar and here he is now… sharing his thoughts with a perfect stranger
The Power of the Method
I’m not CIA but I have friends in the intelligence community who are and this is the default tactic for many of them.
