Hi,

I suddenly decided to make myself an orgonite helmet for my meditation, and in case it's confortable enough (which I doubt) for my sleep even.

I had this idea long time ago when I read about the psionic helmet by Cosimano.

I don't plan on making it usable for radionic boxes for the moment. I just want it as an aid for my own healing and as a complementary energy source for amplifiying my thoughts.

When I first thought of building this, I decided I didn't want to use a ready helmet for this purpose, as these don't exactly fit. So at first I devised of doing it by means of using a swimming cap and gluing a mixture of paper napkins, glue and water, then let dry. But this had the disadvantage that it takes way too long to dry, you cannot remove it in the process and can stain quite a bit.

Now I just thought I'd do this by layering several cuts of cardboard along my head and using tape to fix them in place. I used a swimming cap to protect my hair from the tape.

The result so far is far from good, anti-crafty as I am, but at this point I'm still thinking I could do it to the end. So I'll let you know how it goes Smile

(Planned) Instructions:
1. Cut 4 pieces of cardboard alongside. They should be around 5cm (2 inches) wide, 50cm (20 inches) long.

2. Roll these pieces around your fingers, to make them easy to adapt to the shape of your head.

3. Put on a swimming cap to protect your hair if you like.

From 4. to 10. are suggested instructions on building the basic shape, but not necessarily correct or in that order. Also, note that you shouldn't make the basic shape too tight, because when you put the remaining cardboard pieces to cover the gaps, it's going to get tighter to the point that it might not fit your head anymore:

4. Take the tape, take one piece of cardboard, stick the tape to one of the ends. Carefully place the middle of the piece on your forehead, set horizontally, covering your eyebrows (you do this to ensure that the helmet will be in touch with your third eye), roll it around your head to the back of it, stick the tape to the remaining end.

5. Take another piece and put another stripe of tape in one of the ends. Stick it on top of the piece in your forehead. Bend it backwards, through the top of your head. Take the tape and stick it to the other end of the piece, that should be behind your neck now. Roll the tape around your neck with caution, you don't want to suffocate, and stick it again to the last end. If the cardboard stripe is too long, you should stick the tape just below your head, as you're going to want to remove the remaining stripe. Carefully point your head upwards. Notice if part of the stripe is disturbing your neck. If so, proceed to cut off the remaining part with caution.

6. Take another piece and put another stripe of tape in one of the ends. Fix it against the stripe coming from the forehead, just below your ears (if you want the helmet to cover your ears, as I do). Bend it through the top of your head to the opposite ear. Carefully cut the remaining part if any (please, don't become a Van Gogh at this point), and stick it to the underlying piece that comes from the forehead.

7. Take the last piece and put another stripe of tape in one of the ends. Stick one end to the carboard parts by one of the ears. Bend it around your head, through the back to the opposite ear, carefully cut if necessary and tape it.

8. Put tape on top of every and all intersections that might feel loose. Possibly you need to tape the parts in the back of your head at this point, and the ones on the top of your head.

9. Carefully cut the tape stripe around your neck and remove the basic shape carefully enough not to break it apart. You will feel relieved Laughing

10. Properly fix all the intersections with more tape around, in an 'X' fashion.

11. Once you have the basic shape of the head, fill the gaps with more cardboard.

12. Cover the outer side with foil. It's a very hard work trying to keep the foil without wrinkles, so I wouldn't bother too much about this; anyways wrinkles might help the resin to stick somewhat. You need to stick the foil layers onto the cardboard, so that when the resin dries on top of the foil, it will stick to the foil only, and not to the tape; so don't go putting tape stripes over the foil. Instead, roll the stripes with the sticky side facing outwards, put them on the cardboard and place the foil on top. By all means overlap the layers of foil, but don't let any cardboard part at sight. You want the resin to stick to the most outside layers of foil. You'll be able to remove the inner parts of foil that didn't stick to the resin later, and if the resin leaks through them, well, that shouldn't be much of a problem either.

13. Stick little pieces of cardboard along the edges, perpendicular. They should protrude outwards. This is meant to form a little wall to contain the resin, so make sure there are no gaps.

14. Place the helmet one side up. Determine where you need to put more of these little barriers so that the resin won't fall. Proceed likewise with every side, except of course the inner one.

15. Prepare the resin, mix with the metal chips. Pour on one of these sides. Place a small crystal that will fit. Optionally, when the resin is viscous enough you can remove the little barriers if you like before it's completely dry.

16. Once the resin is dry, proceed like in 15. for the rest of the delimited zones.

17. At this point you should (hopefully) be able to remove the cardboard shape off the helmet. The helmet should feel a little bit more loose than the carboard piece felt, and heavier.

At this point I only have the basic shape of the helmet. See the pictures:

I have covered the holes in the helmet. It still has some gaps, but this should be enough to withstand the foil. It looks ugly as it is. I hope the end result will look better, but that is not much of a concern. It feels too tight. Possibly I should have started the basic shape more loose, cause it gets tighter as you attach more pieces. Well, as long as the end product will fit me I don't care much. Now I need to cover it with foil. I hope the resin will stick to the foil good enough so it won't wear off:

Covered in foil. Tomorrow I'll buy some newspaper to fill it with and move on. I really hope it will fit me in the end, but if it does not... well I'll make a bigger one and leave this as an ornamental orgonite piece Laughing:

I'm currently undergoing a problem with my lack of metal shavings as always... I always end up by manually cutting stainless steel scrubbing pads. I never liked the overall looks of it in orgonite, plus I read that copper is better for this purpose. So I'm devising a device to chop metals easily with an electric drill. I'll continue with the helmet when I'm through with this, or if I don't get a working device after several tries... So it'll have to wait a bit.

As usual with any of my inventions, I have problems finding the correct hardware. Ordering a machine shop to make it for me is not an option as this is way too expensive for me. So I'll stick with the damn scrubbing pads.

I already chopped a bit of copper wire and this feels much better than the scrubbing pads. Unfortunately it's a very hard work getting some good amount of copper chips this way. So after looking for a good while on where to buy this, I enquired a seller in UK over ebay about this. Hopefully I'll find someone to buy this from in my country in a future. But for now I'll have to wait until I get my order to make the helmet. I'll fill the helmet with newspaper sheets now and prepare the little barriers. I might cut scrubbies too to mix with the copper.

Laughing I totally spoiled the helmet by filling it with newspaper sheets. Sorry but I'm not showing a picture of this TOTAL FAILURE! I pressed them so hard against the inside of the helmet over the table that I distorted the shape flattening the top of the helmet. I might try to straighten it by putting it in my head or probably make a new one. Laughing

I'll be updating this post, correcting the instructions and uploading more pictures as I progress.

Regards
