After all the iHype, I'm disappointed to see that the ipad is just a big ipod touch. I really don't see what market Apple is targeting with this product. I was expecting something with a lot more capabilities.

I agree. The form factor makes it almost completely useless. The only way to transport it (for there is hardly any reason to use it primarily at home), is via backpack. This invites scratches, and very likely something crushing the display. Portability and capability don't play well together in AppleWorld...

Yeah, Apple is selling a stand & a keyboard along with a folder type case to protect the screen. Of course, you can buy a halfway decent PC laptop with a lot more capabilities for the price of just the entry level iPad.

I Keep reading people with comments on how the ipad will destroy the kindle. But they just don't seem to get it. I don't want to read off of another computer screen. That's what makes a real ereader good. It feels like you are reading off of paper. That's what I plan on getting sometime this year.

I have no use for an ipad. I admit I'm a little different as I don't really like laptops anyway. When I'm on a computer I like being at a desktop.

Totally disappointed with iPad. Saw one yesterday and seemed overrated. I sure wish they have a iPhone 4G coming out later this year. Mine's First Gen and really getting sluggish.

I guess only time will tell whether or not the iPad is a success. I think Apple is counting on the blind devotion of their Fanboys/Fangirls to help with sales & turn a blind eye to the iPad's limitations.

As for the iphone, I have a 3G which I jailbroke not too long ago. When my contract with AT&T is up, I'll be seriously looking at the competition.

The iphone is an amazing piece of technology, but I'm sick of Apple putting so many restrictions on it. That's why I jailbroke mine & why I'll be shopping around instead of blindly buying the next version of iphone.

I think it's a great form factor. People will find creative ways to make good use of it. I'll probably not get one since I never buy Apple gadgets.

You think they would be smart enough to design an open source/decent os. But again Apple's specialty is mp3 players, not computers. Shocked

A security group found a hole in the security protocols of the ipad. with it they were able to get the email address of every ipad sold. All 114,067 of them. They bought to the attention of AT&T (the exploit linked back to the AT&T servers) and Apple. AT&T was "dismayed" but "felt the security was of little consequence." Apple chose to remain silent on the issue.

As there are even more security holes in the device, I don't see it being a viable computing platform. Just my opinion, so all you Apple fanboys and fangirls, leave the tar and feathers at home...
