Why do we call some religions “mythologies” (ancient Greek, Norse, Egyptian, etc.) and others religions? Is this fair? What does this show about how relevant certain ideas are as society progresses.

I guess dominant religions like to make the older ones or even just different ones into myths.
I couldn't help but laugh my ass off when I once went into a bookshop in Bangkok and the bible was in the fiction section. |

It is not so much a political issue more so about the reality of their history. Jesus was, in fact, crucified. He was a real person.
