Don't know if this was elsewhere already, but couldn't find it, so...
I was reading one of Robert Anton Wilson's Historical Illuminatus novels and a character mentions a way to cure headache and migraine by (i think) visualising pure white light. I have searched for this on google but can't seem to find it. I assumed it was real as it sounds like a Sufi trick.
Has anyone else done this, or if not, something comparable? It sounds like a small but important step towards my larger goals. |

If you have chronic headaches - tension, sinus, or even migraine and cluster - then I'd suggest getting craniosacral therapy and worrying about the white light later. It was the only thing that had any impact for my wife other than the Botox. She sometimes went to the emergency room for an IV only to have to go back a few hours later. Nothing actually worked. The craniosacral therapy was just beginning to start to help when our guy who did it for us quit his practice due to shoulder injury. _________________

Hey, thanks Tom. Not really chronic, but sat in front of a screen at the office does bring them on occasionally. I don't like taking aspirin or similar, and it's that I want to have that kind of control over myself that i ask.
Don't know much about craniosacral therapy but will look into it. Can you do it independently or on the fly, or would you need a practicioner? |

With craniosacral therapy you need someone else to do it for you.
The Bates Method is for improving eyesight and it can suggest ways of avoiding tension while working with computers either at home or at work. It does far more than letting you stop using eyeglasses. You can learn it on your own, too. _________________

| I'll vouch for craniosacral therapy too. A friend of mine had post natal depression and 2 sessions of craniosacral cured her. |

| My ex-wifey, who you've probably seen me babble relentlessly on here about, is in school to be an RMT (Massage therapist). At her school they teach craniosacral therapy and have recently been fighting the mainstream who relentlessly try to debunk it as quackery. |

Interesting, I'll look into Bates method since it pays to have control over my wellness. Things like posture and breathing i always pay attention to when making sales calls, to help energize me in performance, and I like to have the best setup for a given situation.
If i had a pain, cramp, headache, whatever, is there similar method to focus on it and "ease it out?" Like the equivalent of the Swish in NLP?
I started thinking about this when I was going through a swathe of job interviews, had no money and some debt, and sometimes got really bad anxious headaches beforehand, and thought " I need a quick and dirty solution for this".
I already knew about energized breathing and so forth, but this was a mystery.
Obviously, if it interferes with my day or is severe or debilitating, I would need to take a look at my lifestyle, and get help or treatment.
Rayzorblades: yeah, I've heard Reiki and whatnot are good for stress, though never tried it. |

If you need immediate results, use drugs. That would include herbal medicines like hops, skullcap, valerian, kava kava, chamomile, and peppermint in combination with each other. B-complex, magnesium, calcium, and other nutrients can combine with herbs to help them work more quickly and easily.
(If you already have an ongoing relationship with a doctor it is easier to get something to help you to sleep, or something to help with anxiety during interviews, but most doctors would be suspicious if you start seeing them and immediately ask for sedatives. They call it "drug seeking behavior". Besides that, a little anxiety / adrenaline can be converted into enthusiasm and used to improve your performance and sharpen your thinking.)
The problem with most alternative medicine approaches like reiki and craniosacral therapy is that they are more useful for reducing tendencies toward things like headaches and anxiety than immediate instances of them. They are not as good at dealing with acute problems. That includes the visualization based approaches like imagining white light in your head.
The Bates Method works with posture and breathing. It is a general approach to reducing stress. It also teaches you about using your eyes to break bad habits of seeing that lead to chronic stress. Using glasses to see better, it suggests, teaches the body that the stress which is affecting vision is a normal condition. It is like biofeedback in reverse. It is why there is a tendency to go from a lower strength prescription lens to a higher strength prescription lens, rather than the other way around. When my wife started getting Botox injections for her migraines, she noticed an immediate improvement in her vision and after getting the shots regularly for some time she was able to wear a lower strength prescription lens and lower strength contact lenses. _________________

I use two methods that work almost instantly for headache and migraine.... EFT (learn at emofee.com) and Quantum touch - buy the book and learn yourself. QT is running energy gathered with breath to your fingers, then rest your fingers along the sutures of the skull as well as the upper neck/lower skull.
VEry handly to know how to deal with these! I don't get headaches, but we all know heaps of people who do! |

A couple years ago a couple friends and I were jumped by a local gang and I was almost beaten to death. Bleeding in my brain etc.
When I woke up I had a horrible concussion and since then I've had memory problems, mood swings, and migraines fairly regularly. I just healed up from one that only lasted a day or so thankfully. I think I'm gonna start trying some of this stuff. It couldn't hurt. |

| Tom, some very good points there which hadn't occured to me. Yes, prevention is always better than cure, even a psychic, drug-free one. |

| Thanks. It's odd actually, it never occurred to me before to try and fix any of the troubles I've had since that night. I kinda just resigned myself to them I guess. |

If you get these in front of your computer it could be from eletromagentic frequences (EMF's), which are really bad these days. Cell phones, wireless computer systems... and many other electronic devices, not to mention the lighting in many buildings, is off the scale bad.
A good EMF blocking pendant would help you with all this. You could try this one:
