I have some pretty cheap speakers. If I plug my headphones into the speakers, they dont produce sound, only when the headphones arent plugged in. Now if I plug my Senns into these cheap speakers will the quality of sound I'm getting thru the headphones still be the same, or could going thru the speakers spoil it? As I said the speakers arent of the best quality. But then again they dont need to transmit any sound, just carry it over to the headphones. So people w/ technical audio info, please jump in
Thanks

Hmmm... do i understand correctly that you are routing the sound from your MP3 into your speaker then into your headset?
Quite convoluted if you ask me... why the passthru? _________________ Just as the highest and the lowest notes are equally inaudible, so perhaps, is the greatest sense and the greatest nonsense equally unintelligible.

| essentially yes, tho its from my computer to speakers to headphones. reason for this being that the jack is behind my computer and its a real pain to go behind it each time i wanna switch from speakers to headphones. possible but annoying. |

| get an audio splitter. you can connect both the speaker and headphones to it. only be careful not to turn the volume on your computer to max. |

Well I'm guessing it will be bypassing the acutal speaker so I think the frequenciy recepton and the bulk of it would be unaffected. Though I think the impedance may be altered, plus the jack may be of lower quality causing less audio quality. Bare in mind that I know very little about speakers and headphones.
I would go with the spliter idea. They're really cheap and work well. Though that also bring up the question of the quality of the jack. I think that may be important. I think this one may be above me. |

Well, i doubt its pretty hard to mess up on a splitter decision. Whether it's a 50 cent splitter from radioshack or a $50 Monster splitter made in oxygen free, gold plated copper, there shouldn't be much sound distortion at this tiny junction.
Get the splitter. _________________ Just as the highest and the lowest notes are equally inaudible, so perhaps, is the greatest sense and the greatest nonsense equally unintelligible.
