I don't recall how successful the techniques have been at this, but can you reprogram a fear of approach?

The "approach" is basically making the move, initiating escalation towards the opposite sex (or same sex if your homosexual)
It gives off a certain feeling that hints of fear or expectation of rejection. No degree of confidence ever seems to do away with this feeling, the only thing you can do is desensitize yourself to it by experiencing it over and over again

What I wonder is if you can turn that feeling of fear into either an anchor with very positive feelings, or switch the feeling to some other positive emotion instead

Does anyone know of methods for this or are interested in trying to discover such methods?

It is a huge problem for some people and only a minor annoyance to others which is why I feel that everyone would have some interest in finding this out

Hell, if we came up with a reliable way to reprogram this reaction we could make big cash off selling the method as an e-book, lol

Easy bro. Just tell yourself "This GUY/GAL is far more afraid of me than I am."

From that mindset, it's a lot easier to approach anyone. Whether the bloke is a congressman or janitor

No, I'm talking about turning the automatic response mechanism known as approach anxiety into something else
this is basically what happens when you take a leap or a chance such as when you go in and make a move or say hello to someone new and risk a rejection. For some reason no matter how little I care about the outcome or how sure of success I am or even how many times I've done it I always have that sensation that causes a moment of doubt or negative feeling and occasionally it causes me to hesitate

What I am interested in doing is replacing this reaction with one of something more like enthusiasm for what I am about to be doing simply for the sake of simplifying it for myself. I don't have to worry about making a mistake here so the doubt and that feeling are just pointless to me, lol

One of the best ways to get rid of a fear such as you one you mention is to get a hypnotist to bring you down to a very deep hypnotic level and reprogram or replace the fear with a more productive belief. This might take many sessions, since deep subconscous fears are sometimes not easy to eliminate. There might be some type of hypnotic CD's out there that can also help you with this, but I'm not aware of them.

and if all that fails, hypnotherapy from a reputable member of the pyschiatrical society will help. A few sessions, say ten, should be enough to wipe the slate.

Sometimes self-treatment takes 10x longer that treatment under proferssionals.

You could do swish pattern, to reprogram your mind – instead of going to that undesired state (after a certain trigger, like when you are supposed to make the move) to get you into calm and relaxed state. I’ve done this (and other things to boost self confidence) with clients many, many times and it works like a charm.

And if you are ending in real anxious state, than I would suggest you float out into the future, say 15 minutes AFTER the SUCCESSFUL completion of the event, turn around and look toward NOW. It is humanly impossible to feel anxious about something that already happened, and successfully.

Good stuff! What we must remember is that even the best of pickup artists have this anxiety, it is much lower but they still have it. What i would suggest is also quite simple.

I used to have a fear of public speaking until i learned to use that feeling of anxiety (i think those feelings are pretty similar) and transform it into a feeling of excitement and laughter. I literally practiced as soon as that feeling would jump out i would laugh. So this can be done in practice very efficiently. Have a possible approach in mind during whatever setting you might find yourself in, and as soon as that feeling comes up put a big smile on your face and start to giggle. Do this all the time you feel this anxiety and i can guarantee you one day you will look at a woman you want to approach and automatically a giggle will come up!

doing an attitude shift also helps. Instead of fussing and worrying "How can I impress her/them", think "What can she / they offer ME?"

This little change does wonders!
