In my work, I often hear discussions about balancing the need to make money with doing the projects that we really want to do.

Does this come up much in your day to day conversations?

The people who make the most money of those that I know, are not the happiest.

Many people I know who have put money first have not necessarily been the happiest, especially it if it takes a lot of time out from doing what really inspires them in life. I am meeting more and more people however who are doing things like working part-time or even better setting up businesses around what they really love doing. Society isn't always set up for this so generally speaking it seems to be a slower trek but from my own experience I believe it is more fulfilling and I think you can get the dollars too.

Make the decision to be content with exactly how much you're making, while being open to the possibility of making more.

This mindset transformed me from being depressed to smiling like man on drugs!

Ah. A spin on the favorite credo "Want What You Have, Have What You Want."

Those ancient ones always had the keys to the good life. Didn't they?

I consider myself to be rather under payed, but then again I get to decide how late I start working and when to call it a day. Also, I often just literally create the projects I want to do. I'm a project leader/architect, but I heavily keep tabs on sales Wink. In fact a lot of people think I'm an account manager, but it's just my way of ensuring I get to do what I want to do. Which is the way I like it Cool.

You described what sounds like the life of an entrepreneur. Am I right?

When you start down that road, its hard to go back to being a flunky, no matter how high paying it was.

I totally agree, once an entrepreneur, going back to dancing to someone elses tune just doesn't work.

It's the lifestyle! Being in control of time and taking complete profit from all your labor makes a 10,000 a month entrepreneural job better than a 50 000 a month corporate flunky job.

I juggle corporate and self-employed life. I enjoy the latter to the hilt. It makes me wake up early and sleep late... with glee!
