I am starting to get a beer belly (bierbuikje) and I want to get back to my Heavenly body of a few years back. Until a few years ago I could eat as much as I want, but those days are over.

so I want to change my eating patrons, but I don't want to make it too complicated.. I was thinking about the following:

-When in the pub with friends, drinking whiskey and wine instead of beer
-eating crackers (knackebrod) and rice wafles instead of bread
-eating much more fruit and vegetables, mostly raw
-eating fish instead of meat
-eating much less potatoes and pasta

Besides losing some pounds I hope I will gain more energy by it.

this are the best tips I got from friends and collegaues (mostly female). Any other tips? What worked for you?

since my mother became a vegetarian like me, she lost a lot of kilograms.

I myself can't give you any tips because i need to gain some weight instead of lose it Razz

I used to gain some weight in the past too Smile.
nowadays I have what they call a normal weight, but as I gain some pounds everyyear, I have to make some preventive actions before I become as fat as Edo Brunner, if anyone know who that is.

Some general ways are to eat more frequently during the day, with smaller portion sizes.

5-6 meals a day is pretty good.

Try and eat foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.

For example, Chicken is good since there isn't to much processing that happens to it. Pasta would be bad as its grains converted to flour, additives added, processed, then cooked.

No sugars, NO SUGARS, _NO_ sugars.

Hard to stress that one enough. When I've been trying to lose weight just that one aspect of the diet has one of the biggest effects.

If i consume a lot of sugar, like say a couple of cokes or coffee w/sugar, I lose very little weight and have worse sustained energy even when the other dietary factors are good.

Try and keep the salt very low as well. Can't cut it 100%, but make it almost nothing. Steer clear of products with high sodium.

An example of what I ate yesterday:

Morning: 4 egg white scrambled 1 banana
mid-afternoon: 1 can tuna (in water) 1/2 cup brown rice.
afternoon: 4oz chicken breast grilled, 1/2 cup brown rice.
evening: 5 oz grilled Talapia (fish), 1/2 avacado, 1/4 tomato, 1/8th cup spanish rice.

That diet was very good. However, I also consumed 2 Mt. Dews, 1 Coke. Basically ruined any good I got from eating right.

However, on weeks when I eat like that but cut out the sodas I will easily lose 2-3 lbs of primarily fat.

Drink Green Tea at least once a day. Choose brand/s that has Chinese characters or made from China or Taiwan. Wink

Some brands has strong caffeine in it like the Susan Baker brand, I couldn't sleep drinking this brand of tea. Choose brands that suits you best, coz there are many out there in grocery stores or chinese stores.

Green teas helps digestions and in effect it also improves burning out energy by 35%....so it will help you lose weight. It also contains anti-oxidant and other things that helps to have good blood circulations. Cool

Coffee is actually not that bad for you, in small quantities.

A nice cup of coffee in the morning with no cream and no sugar is actually healthy, coffee is a natural diuretic.

Anything past one cup though is no longer beneficial and can become detrimental as you can crash your metabolism from to many stimulants.

I like to take an 8once glass that's 50% black coffee mixed with 50% mineral water (so that's 4 onces coffee mixed with 4 onces water). It's a great metabolic enhancer and far safer than the dangerous junk in Xenadrine and Hydroxycut. Combined with a daily 45 minute brisk walk and a ovo-vegan diet, I lost body fat from 19% to a lean 14%.

How's that eh?

All I can really reommend is:

WEIGHT WATCHERS


Simple to loose weight and you even don't have to renounce.

My tip: don't go to weight watchers group- make it on your own.
They have a home-programm, go to their website and have a look!

One more tip that's always worked for me: When getting your dinner at the buffet line, put all the stuff you want to eat on your plate.

Done?

Walk to the end of the line a scoop half of it off your plate.

You won't feel psychologically starved (just staring at at all that food makes you full), and you halve the caloric content.

Thats a cool suggestion if you can live with the guilt of throwing away half your food, while millions starve for even the smallest morsels.

My mother used to tell me not to leave a morsel on the plate, as there are lots of starving people out there.

Its better to just look at the food on the table and then take small bites.

on the subject of weight loss. Have plenty of almonds before a meal and drink water with freshly squeezed lemon in it.

One tip that has always helped me...don't completely forbid yourself foods that you love.

If you try to ban a food forever, your subconscious mind will rebel, and before you know it you'll be on your eigth tub of ice cream or beer and still going (okay, may not your eighth, but you know what I mean...)

Instead, enjoy the foods you love in small quantities and try to add healtheir foods to your diet as well. Reduce your overall intake, add a little body movement (I hate the word exercise) to your daily routine, and in no time at all, you'll be at the weight you want.

Eat a small handful of nuts before every meal, this will help you feel full before you begin the meal.

Use olive oil.

Steam veggies you don't eat raw.

Use a smaller plate, bowl, etc. You actually do eat less if these are smaller.

Eat slowly and chew each bite well.

Exercise.

thanks guys for your tips. In 6 weeks I've gone from 80 kg to 72 kg.
What I did:
-each much, much more vegetables and fruits
-eat a lot of notes
-eat fish instead of fish
-eat much less bread, pasta and rice

And the most important tip:
-buy a crosstrainer, put it in front of your dvd-player, buy some U2 dvd's and WALK ON!!
