Sennheisers, but what model? I'm looking for something that's effective but economical, my headphones right now are messed up, I need a new pair anyway..

any suggestions?

Agreed! They're also better in fidelity than the wireless Sennheisers. You'll experience some distortion when the RF models are used.

The freq. response & impedance between these models varies, but HD 580 comes close to HD 650. Headphones unable to re-produce some frequencies will create distortions.

My Grado SR-325i (24KHz max) have this problem with DMU2, Senn HD 650 (39.5KHz max) don't.

Hunt around for cheap bargains/resale of HD 580. Audiophiles here change their gear regularly, could buy it off their hands cheaper. HD580 cost about half of HD 650.

Wide-range of amps/DACs/soundcards here, prices from $20-$1000. High impedance headphones benefit greatly from an amplifier/good sound source, this includes those normal 32 ohms models as well.

Generic portable players & soundcards barely cut it for medium-to-high end headphones, an entry-level amp will help.

No reason to spend big bucks if then you don't enjoy your investment's true full potential Wink

I prefer headphones where you can put off the earpads, they don't go around your ear, so your ears will get air, you become no headache, low increase in germs ... Wink

If using an amplifier, always connect to line-out, not headphone-out.

All headphone-out have a built-in amplifier chip (that's how you control the volume).

Line-out doesn't have built-in amplification, instead, it relies on the better amplifier chip (externally connected) to control volume, while retaining the rich details of the signal.

Most amplification chips used on amplifiers are better than the one used in headphone-out. They could drive high impedance headphones as well.

indeed all this stupid sh*t about headphones i have these : sennheiser 457 : http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/root/05177

these were just 30 or 40 euros (about 45 dollars or somthing) and i never had problems with them, and i benifited greatly from the cds, joey once said: even the cheapest sennheiser headphones will do, wich i have Smile
