Change is a great thing, but sweeping change? It's great talk at the podium, but this is not, "Mr. Smith goes to Washington." Working with congress is an entirley different animal. Barack is a freshman senator having not even chaired a commitee, and suddenly he thinks he'll be able to wheel and deal with congress?
Socialized education and medicine has to be paid for by someone. Barack and Clinton say it (taxes) will come from corporations. And how will the coporations respond?...moving jobs overseas resulting in layoffs here and charging much more for their products, etc.
Every canidate in history claimed on their platform "no cowtowing to special interests and lobbyists." It's the special interests and lobbyists that put millions in their campaign funds to start with. I guess the canidates all think that Americans are "stupid."
Democrats in office are already planning a 683 billion tax in increase over 5 years "if" they get the presidency. Hell we already have to claim the stimilus package from Bush on our taxes and "if" the republicans are voted out of office then all tax cuts by Bush will be erased. That's a real "smart" stimulus package put forth the the Dems.
My wife lived in England for a while and can tell you straight up that socialized medicine does not work like they say it will. When she lived there, those that could afford it would carry additional insurance since the gov't insurance covers only basic care. If you need surgery then you will have to go on long waiting lists since the entire public is on the same insurance. _________________ Evolve or Die

It's not that Americans are stupid. It's that we don't know how the government actually works. The government takes our money. We don't get an accounting of how it is spent, what it was spent for, or even how much each item cost. We don't know who contributed what, and how that influenced buying decisions.
If we had that information, we could open a dialog with out elected leaders, and maybe even vote on special items of interest while elected officials are in office. For sure we could raise the issue and have a meaningful dialog about how the company is being run.
I don't know how to bring something like that to fruition, but I do know that something like that needs doing. Or maybe I just need to go to that reality... _________________ Quotes ≠ Knowledge.
