“Yes dear… I’ll show up at 7pm sharp”

… then you don’t.

An critical indicator of your control over your own life is the percentage of commitments you keep. Your objective, of course, is 100 percent. When you honor your agreements, you are doing it not only for the happiness of other folks involved, but also for your own personal benefit and fulfillment.

So why, then, do people make commitments they are relatively certain they will break? One reason is the desire to please others and to avoid possible conflict. For example, let’s say your superior asks for a report on Thursday and you know it can’t be ready by then, but you don’t want to frustrate him, so you consent.

Fear is another reason for making commitments you cannot keep. Let’s say you’ve made plans to meet for dinner and the theater with your wife at 5:30, but at 5:00 your boss asks you to work late to finish a critical project. You know your wife has already left for the restaurant, but you’re afraid you may be passed over for a promotion or even yelled at if you turn your boss down. So you leave a message for your wife at the restaurant, telling her you can’t make dinner and she might as well go on to the theater without you. You then grit your teeth and do the work, distracted, feeling guilty, rushing to finish, operating under stress and interrupted by several phone calls from your wife. When you have finished the job, you get to the theater just in time to see the third act. And your wife, needless to say, is annoyed and angry.

  • We secretly admit deep down that money can’t buy happiness… and we refuse to believe it. Yet we need only look to observe the many glum folks living at the loftier socioeconomic levels. Many of the well-heeled don’t appear have larger smiles than people of modest means. These wealthy folks actually laugh less, jump for joy less, and tend to be blown away by simple business setbacks

Did you know that rich people rarely experience the bliss and satisfaction that supposedly come ribboned with wealth. They may be swimming in cash, but their state of happiness reflects quite the opposite. A 1995 study by University of Illinois revealed that 1/3 of the richest people in the USA are not actually as happy as the average-income person in this country. (more…)

  • Become The Alpha Male In A Day

The Alpha Male is the leader of the flock, the man who gets the largest slice of the pie. Step back and imagine what it would be like to become the alpha male.

There’s a secret: Positive Self Imaging.

Positive Self-Imaging is a holistic technique to catapult you to your destination. The method of mental bimaging gives you an internal map to your sunconscious and conscious behaviors. As you mentally focus on where it is you want to go, and you’re determined to reaching your destination, your actions often follow. Literally, your actions spring from your mental images. Precisely, you usually won’t move if you haven’t already visualized yourself mentally rehearsing the outcome. How you visually represent yourself, in any given situation, is what you transform into, and how you will act. When you solidify your images in a constructive way, positive things happen. Focusing on creating uplifting, pleasurable changes in your life buoys you with uplifting sensations of self-confidence and self-determination. (more…)

  • Fact: Thousands wallow in depression because of insecurity.

When you ignore the positive feelings tied with accomplishment, it’s easy to slide back into negative self-talk and sabotage your success. In this insecured state, you may find it tough to focus on or permit yourself to enjoy feelings of accomplishment as feelings of self-judgment then emerge. Talking to yourself in a dark way reinforces habitual, unhealthy behavior. A sentiment such as, “Why forge ahead if I never get anywhere?” reflects a lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem. The self-chastisement involved in focusing on past failures, rather than past triumphs, keeps you in the shadows of uncertainty where there’s no opportunity for flying high.

When your self-confidence and sense of security are deficient, you may impose a retreat on yourself to escape taking challenges or risks. When a highly successful event does happen, you may conceive that it’s sheer luck. Self-talk and beliefs such as “My effort has no effect on the outcome,” may stem from previously programmed ideas that you received from deprecating others. (more…)

Why People Are Afraid To Take Risks & Leave Their Comfort Zones

When we consider actually moving toward our heart’s desire, a part of us automatically looks ahead to the possible consequences - especially the negative ones. Our “comfort zone” glooms onto these negative consequences. The comfort zone argues it’s the actions that will bring on the negative consequences. (more…)

  • Visualization will help you to discover more energy and joy as you tune in to your inner self. It will also help you gain the competitive edge in your personal and professional relationships. Visualization, or ‘mental imaging,’ is a powerful skill that can be practiced regularly to improve your communication.

It is a process of relaxation in which you can consciously evoke desired sensations and images. It is as if you are watching yourself and your surroundings on an inner screen. When you allow yourself to visualize, you are giving signals to your body to either increase or decrease sensation. You are in control of your sensations of feeling, hearing, smelling, seeing, color and temperature. Therefore, when you visualize, you control your feelings and thoughts. It is important to communicate positive signals, feelings, or ideas to maximize pleasant thoughts and situations, and eliminate unpleasant thoughts or situations. (more…)

  • Everything is spirit. Everything! It is all energy and consciousness.

What does the Law of Attraction have to do with this? How does success come about by becoming aware of the Law of Attraction and its principles?

Using The Imagination To Control Your Thoughts

The imagination is a fascinating, powerful place. For example, remember any incident from elementary school - writing with a fat pencil, perhaps. (Remember those fat pencils?) Now, think of someplace you plan to go in the next month and imagine yourself there. Good. Now, imagine yourself on the moon, looking back at the earth - a big blue marble in the blackness of space. Excellent, isn’t it?

This is the power of the imagination: we can return to the past, rehearse the future, and zoom off on flights of fancy - all within seconds.

The images you had may not have been well-detailed, or held in the imagination for very long, but you probably had some sense of each. Some people primarily see in their imaginations, others primarily hear, others primarily feel. Whatever you do is fine.

When you do not have conscience control of the imagination, it is vigorously and creatively used against us. We relive the horrors of the past - the fears that were justified, the guilts that were especially foul, the unworthinesses at their worst, the hurt feelings at their most painful, the anger at its most destructive. Considering the false history created by the mind’s careful selection and occasional rewriting, it’s easy to feel discouraged about ourselves and everything we might consider doing.

The mind also uses the imagination when considering the future. It projects an image of not just failure but monumental failure, embarrassing failure, public and unconditional failure. Considering this opposition, it’s amazing that we even get out of bed. The mind (unless you control it) also uses every news story - and every other fictional account - of disaster to show us why we had better not do anything new, ever. It’s time to recapture the imagination from your mind’s fears. Your imagination is yours. You can remember the past you choose, rehearse the future you want, and identify with the real and fictional heroes and events of your selection.

When we remember the good things from our past (and all our pasts are filled with both good and bad), we build an image of ourselves as doers and achievers - charmed, kind and terrific. This forms a solid base for future action.

When we project our dreams into a positive future, we see that we can have what we want. A positive image of the future not only shows us how to get there, it draws us to it, attracting us toward our dreams like a magnet.

When we hear some good news, read an inspirational story or see an uplifting movie, we can use our imagination to put ourselves in the center of the action. This allows us to identify with all the good, happy and wonderful images in our culture - and know that we’re one of them.

  • “You are under the power of no other enemy, are held in no other captivity and want no other deliverance, but from the power of your own earthly self. This is the murderer of the divine life within you. It is your own Cain that murders your own Abel.” Those words were written by William Law, an English mystic, born in 1686. He was a follower of the works of Jacob Boehme another European mystic, who was also a shoemaker.

I was reminded how true this statement can be, while watching the events surrounding the death of a popular model unfold. I will not go into detail, for I’m sure you are aware that there is a struggle taking place concerning where she should be buried. Of course the underlying cause for the drama is money. There is a group of people in a bitter dispute over the physical remains of a person who is still very much alive in consciousness. Her experience of life now, is out of the reach of money, anger, hatred and fear. But the group is in their own “Hell” trying to make sense of the contrast, they are creating. It’s not about the dead. it’s all about the grip of the earthly self on truth. Their own truth, is being held captive, by the allure of money. We do kill our brothers for the sake of an illusion. We kill ourselves for the sake of proving someone else wrong. (more…)
